Filming for the third season of Netflix’s The Witcher is almost at its end after nearly six months of filming. Now, cast members started to bid their farewells to the new season. And as such, this was after filming a crucial scene from the finale that sets up Season 4.
Enter the Lodge of Sorceresses
Although we won’t see much of it in Season 3, The Lodge will play a very important role in The Continent’s politics in Season 4 and beyond.
The Lodge of Sorceresses is formed by Philippa Eilhart (Cassie Clare), who is joined by Triss Merigold (Anna Shaffer), Margarita Laux-Antille (Rochelle Rose), Sabrina Glevissig (Therica Wilson-Read), Keira Metz (Safiyya Ingar), Francesca Findabair (Mecia Simson), Fringilla Vigo (Mimi M. Khayisa) as well as Sheala de Tancarville, Ida Emean aep Sivney and Assire var Anahid. The latter three aren’t confirmed to be in Season 3 and may be introduced in Season 4 instead.
Today, several cast members took to social media to share their farewells to Season 3 of The Witcher as all of them had their last filming day together as the much-anticipated Lodge of Sorceresses. We imagine they filmed their first official meeting that would tease the things to come.
Cassie Clare shared a heartfelt message via her Instagram, saying “this marks the end of dream come true” and that she was “proud what we’ve made as a family.” She also gave a hug to her on-screen alter ego, the adorable white owl.
Some expressed concerns about Clare’s wording about “the end of a dream come true” as if Philippa’s journey in The Witcher has come to an untimely end like Eskel, but we really don’t think that’s the case. Instead, she is more likely very emotional about wrapping her scenes along with people she has come to love like a family, especially since it will be quite a bit before cast and crew reunites for Season 4, whenever that happens. Besides, Philippa is too important.
Mecia Simson also shared a few words about wrapping The Witcher Season 3: “That’s a wrap for season 3 of The Witcher. It has been such a special journey. So much love shared, so many beautiful friendships made and lots of belly laughs that i will never forget. I LOVE this team of beautiful crazies so much. Thank you. “
Anna Shaffer, a day later, posted about her wrapping The Witcher Season 3 as well. That being said, as she points out, she cannon share any new photos, so we only see behind-the-scenes images from two previous seasons.
Safiyya Ingar did the same today and we very much anticipate to see Keira Metz sometime next year on our screens in The Witcher Season 3.
Filming for the new season is not yet completely done, but only days are remaining before it’s all over.
Season 3 of The Witcher is in production until early September 2022 for a 2023 release. The live-action prequel The Witcher: Blood Origin is in post-production after two weeks of reshoots and is currently eyed for a Christmas 2022 release.
