The past two weeks have been very busy for The Witcher cast and crew as one unit was in Morocco filming with Freya Allan in the heat of the frying Sahara desert and another unit was back in England filming at Longcross Studios with Henry Cavill and Anya Chalotra. Now one of the units is done.
Filming wraps in the Sahara Desert
After two weeks of filming in the Moroccan side of the very hot Sahara Desert, The Witcher finally wraps its production there.
As we reported earlier, filming took place near the town of Erfoud and featured mainly Freya Allan‘s Ciri because after a certain climactic event, Ciri enters an unstable portal and finds herself in the Korath Desert aka the Frying Pan.
Filming also featured two white horses, one of which must be portraying Ihuarraquax, the much-awaited unicorn from Time of Contempt that Ciri meets and bonds with.

It’s pleasing to know that The Witcher isn’t shying away from things from Andrzej Sapkowski’s source material that plenty of other fantasy adaptations would consider too silly or weird to adapt.
To add to the things Ciri will encounter in the desert, there’s also her deceased mother Pavetta, played by Gaia Mondadori. Ciri will presumably see a vision or a mirage of sorts as Mondadori confirmed her presence in Morocco earlier this week.

With Morocco done, cast and crew are expected to return to England once again and continue work in Longcross Studios.
Season 3 of The Witcher is in production until September 2022 for a 2023 release. The live-action prequel The Witcher: Blood Origin is in post-production after two weeks of reshoots and is currently eyed for a Christmas 2022 release.
