Season 3 of Netflix’s The Witcher is in its final stretch of filming with only one month to go before production wraps in the first half of September. It wasn’t without its bumps as Henry Cavill was tested positive with COVID and had to skip two weeks of filming. But now he’s back and we have more tidbits to ago along with that.
Henry Cavill is back in action
As we reported earlier, after a short break, filming for the new season continued without Henry Cavill focusing on scenes where he wasn’t needed. That was primarily the Thanedd coup, where there are countless of players and plenty of scenes where Geralt isn’t seen.
After being in quarantine for approximately two weeks, Henry Cavill is back on set to continue filming The Witcher Season 3. As a result of the delay in Henry’s scenes, the end of filming was pushed back as well. As we mentioned last time, filming is now set to wrap in the first half of September.
In any case, all is well in Henry land and that’s what matters most.
Ciri in the Korath desert, part II
This week director Bola Ogun, who helms the last two episodes of the season, continued her scenes depicting Ciri in the Korath Desert, but this time at Longcross Studios, with sets covered in sand and surrounded by green screen.
Last month, the bulk of these scenes was filmed in the Sahara Desert, the actual Frying Pan of Planet Earth. There, if you remember, we saw white horses, which indicates the unicorn will be included after all.

The fact that after two weeks in Sahara, there are still scenes to shoot for the Korath desert indicated it will truly be a big part of the last two episodes of Season 3.
Filming at Castle Bottom with elves
Also this week Bola Ogun filmed scenes outside the studio, at the Castle Bottom national nature reserve in Surrey. It’s another location, where The Witcher can depict the woodland scenes of The Continent.
The scenes involved at least Francesca Findabair and likely other elves as Mecia Simson shared an image of Francesca’s boots in her trailer that day. It looks like after Thanedd, the elves are back in the woods for the last two episodes.
In other news, filming for Thanedd still went on this week with Loni Peristere as Ryan Hayes (Artaud Terranova) also shared from the studio.
As for the elves, Mecia Simson’s main co-star Tom Canton (Filavandrel) also kept teasing the things to come in the upcoming season of The Witcher.
Season 3 of The Witcher is in production until September 2022 for a 2023 release. The live-action prequel The Witcher: Blood Origin is in post-production after two weeks of reshoots and is currently eyed for a Christmas 2022 release.
